Snoop Dogg’s migration from the studio to the kitchen has finally come full circle. After showing off his knife skills when he made mashed potatoes on Martha Stewart’s show way back in 2008, the legendary rapper is finally the author of his very own cookbook, From Crook to Cook.

So how do Snoop’s recipes stack up against his rhymes? According to a press release, the recipes will range from haute cuisine classics like Lobster Thermidor and Filet Mignon to home-cooking staples like baked mac & cheese and chicken and waffles. “You know it’s blazin’ up in my kitchen, I’m takin’ the cookbook game higher with a dipped and whipped collection of my favorite recipes, ya dig?” Snoop said in a statement announcing the cookbook's release. And despite his famously cozy relationship with marijuana, Snoop has decided to make all his forthcoming recipes cannabis-free, in case you were wondering. Still, in a sly nod to his reputation as a smoker extraordinaire, he’s included snack recipes designed specifically to satisfy pot-induced munchies.

The new cookbook is the latest in Snoop’s evolution into one of our most surprising food authorities. One person who’s already bought in is Martha Stewart, who co-hosts the VH1 cooking competition show Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party with the rapper. During a recent cooking spot for Facebook Live, Stewart bestowed one of Snoop’s handy kitchen tips on none other than Jennifer Garner. While making lobster sandwiches, Stewart decided to spike her mayonnaise by adding crumbled bacon to it, a tip she says she learned from Snoop. “It’s easier to crumble it than to put those big pieces of bacon on the sandwich,” she said. “That’s the one thing I learned from Snoop, is crumble your bacon ahead of time.”
