How to Toast Nuts

You can toast nuts in the oven or in a skillet. The toasting time will vary depending on the size of the nuts. Larger nuts, such as walnuts, pecans, or almonds take longer than smaller nuts such as peanuts, pine nuts, or macadamia nuts. Once cool, store them in an airtight container.

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. in the oven:

    Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Arrange the nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Place in the middle rack of the oven and toast for 10 to 15 minutes, until nuts turn golden brown. Stir a few times during toasting so the nuts in the middle toast as quickly as the ones at the edges of the pan.

  2. on the stovetop:

    Step 2

Sauté the nuts in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the nuts start to turn golden brown. Transfer to a plate and cool.
