Madeira is combined with Cointreau, honey and spices in a simple English-inspired hot drink for the holidays.

Recipe information

  • Yield

    6 Servings

Ingredients

4 cups Madeira
6 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
8 3-inch-long, 1/2-inch-wide orange peel strips (orange part only)
6 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick, broken in half
1/2 cup Cointreau or other orange liqueur

Preparation

  1. Combine first 6 ingredients in heavy large saucepan. Bring almost to simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and cook wine mixture 10 minutes to allow flavors to blend (do not simmer).
