Starfish Cupcakes

Recipe information

  • Yield

    makes 24 per recipe

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. make starfish

    Step 1

You will need 9 ounces of marzipan to make 24 starfish. Pinch off a small piece of marzipan; roll into a 1 1/4-inch ball, then flatten slightly with the palm of your hand. Mold into a star shape. Press top of starfish against the small holes of a box grater, repeating to cover entire surface, for texture. Repeat until you have one for each cupcake.

  2. decorate cupcakes

    Step 2

Using an offset spatula, spread buttercream over cupcake, smoothing into a dome. Place graham-cracker crumbs in a small bowl. Dip cupcake into crumbs, coating completely. Sprinkle with more crumbs. Place starfish on top, pressing gently to adhere, and mold to top of cupcakes. Cupcakes are best served the same day they are decorated; keep at room temperature.
